Submitting your application

To get your passport as quickly as possible, make sure your application is complete by using the checklist detailing the most common errors when applying for a passport.

Submitting an application by mail

The use of a certified courier/traceable mail service will reduce the delivery time of your application and help ensure the safety of your documents.

Submitting an application in person

*These offices do not accept all types of applications.

If you are submitting your application in person, you should do so yourself. If this is not possible, the application may be submitted in person by an acceptable third party. Please note that you must be 16 years of age or older in order to submit an application in person.

Passport delivery or pick-up

The passport will be returned to the applicant by mail in Canada. The applicant may also choose to pick up the passport in person at the nearest Passport Canada office (extra fees apply). A third party may pick up the passport in person on behalf of the applicant if written authorization from the applicant is provided.
